DOOBALIADA!!! - Here Comes Santa Claus

I have to say one of my fondest memories of Christmas as a child was my sister and I every year getting so excited when my parents would break out their Christmas albums. They had all the Christmas classics sung by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Johnny Mathis, but the one I remember the most was “Here Comes Santa Claus” by the Ray Conniff Singers circa 1959. And even though it was recorded 10 years before I was born, I am of the opinion that this is the best version of the song EVER done!

I have to tell you what makes it the best is the DOOBALIADAS! You have to wait for them. They come after the Here comes Santa Claus when the girls are singing.  My sister Becky and I would sing that EVERY time! I thought that DOOBALIADA was actually one of the words in the song. I thought it meant JOY AND HAPPINESS.
Now considering my parents would play these records every year from the time I was born, I never knew there was another version until I was about 9 years. But it was too late. To this day when I hear that song on the radio, after the Here comes Santa Claus line, you can hear me singing DOOBALIADA. And in my mind I am filled with JOY AND HAPPINESS!
My son and daughter now sing the song that way too! I called my mom the other to tell her about it and she got a laugh out of that. She still has the albums and is now passing them down to me.
DOOBALIADA!!!

What is your fondest childhood Christmas memory?

Frosty - A Suicidal Snowman

I think that I am the only one who may think that Frosty the Snowman needs to be committed. I mean honestly, just listen to the tale of Frosty. It is all laid out plain as day. If this were presented in front of a judge, he would surely be put away, for his own protection, of course...

Let start with his hat... He believes this hat to be magic and does not move, or as the song says "come to life" till it is placed upon his head.
Now, let's skip down to where he heads into the village, and only pauses a moment when he is told by the traffic cop to STOP. An blatant defiance of authority.
But, what tops it off, and proves that Frosty is a danger to himself is his obvious disregard for the hot sun. Knowing full well what that hot sun will do to him, he heads out to play anyway.
So he is either, a complete danger to himself due to ignorance, or a SUICIDAL SNOWMAN. Either way, I think Frosty needs some serious counseling!!!

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman

Was a jolly happy soul

With a corncob pipe and a button nose

And two eyes made out of coal

Frosty the Snowman

Is a fairytale they say

He was made of snow

But the children know

How he came to life one day

There must have been some magic

In that old silk hat they found

For when they placed it on his head

He began to dance around

Frosty the Snowman

Was alive as he could be

And the children say

He could laugh and play

Just the same as you and me

Frosty the Snowman

Knew the sun was hot that day

So he said let's run

And we'll have some fun

Now before I melt away

Down to the village

With a broomstick in his hand

Running here and there all around the square

Saying catch me if you can

He led them down the streets of town

Right to the traffic cop

And he only paused a moment when

He heard him holler stop

Frosty the Snowman

Had to hurry on his way

But he waved goodbye

Saying don't you cry

I'll be back again some day

Thumpety thump thump

Thumpety thump thump

Look at Frosty go

Thumpety thump thump

Thumpety thump thump

Over the hills of snow
